Just ordered this documentary. I’ve been a fan of The National for about 4 years now, and they’ve yet to disappoint me with a single song. I’d love to see this painful process that they went through to make their most current album, Boxer.
Finally gave in and made a Muxtape account. My plan is to keep this updated with the songs that I’m most into at any given moment.
Wow, they gave it a 10/10! I’ve never seen that happen before.
This is a great song, Merlin. Reminds me a lot of Velvet Crush.
Bacon Ray - “Diane Court” (mp3)
Diane Court is a song from Bacon Ray’s 2nd and last CD, “The Swab” (1998). The record had an entirely appropriate tone of life getting weird and frayed around the edges, but this tune at least had that feeling of the possibility of salvation — by feverishly hoping you could manage to impress the girl you knew was way too good for you.
I wrote most of this one, played guitar, and (along with our friend, Afshin), played a little busted-ass that dog.-influenced keyboard. I think the backup vocals are my favorite part. That’s Mike, Brent, and me. And, as ever, The Beard’s work on the floor toms and ride cymbal rules. Very fun song to record and play.
And, yeah, I still love Say Anything….
If you haven’t listened to the Maniacal Rage Podcast yet, you should be ashamed of yourself. 30 quality episodes, all free. Thank for making comedy babies in my brain, Garrett and Shawn.
And don’t forget MRTV!
